The Singapore Sling joins gin, Terrific Marnier, cherry alcohol, homegrown alcohol, pineapple, lime, sharp flavoring, and club pop. It was first made in the mid-twentieth century at Long Bar in the Raffles Hotel in Singapore.

Here is the correct and authentic recipe for the famous Singapore Sling cocktail:

Ingredients:

  1. 1 ½ oz (45ml) gin
  2. ½ oz (15ml) cherry liqueur (Cherry Heering is traditional)
  3. ¼ oz (7.5ml) Cointreau or triple sec
  4. ¼ oz (7.5ml) Benedictine
  5. 4 oz (120ml) pineapple juice
  6. ½ oz (15ml) lime juice
  7. ¼ oz (7.5ml) grenadine
  8. 1 dash of Angostura bitters
  9. 1 dash of aromatic bitters
  10. Ice cubes
  11. Pineapple slice and cherry, for garnish

Instructions:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  • Pour in the gin, cherry liqueur, Cointreau, Benedictine, pineapple juice, lime juice, grenadine, and dashes of both Angostura and aromatic bitters.
  • Shake well until the ingredients are chilled and well mixed.
  • Strain the mixture into a tall glass filled with ice.
  • Garnish with a pineapple slice and a cherry on a cocktail pick or skewer.
  • Serve and enjoy your classic Singapore Sling!
